Zach Braff Ends Up in the Garage: The man that Scrubs built, Zach Braff is returning to your television—sorta. Braff’s sold a single camera comedy that he will write, direct and executive produce called Garage Bar. Tackling similar themes to his 2004 movie Garden State, Garage Bar is a workplace-centric show about a group of friends who must deal with the chaos of fame when one of them becomes a pop star. Unfortunately, Braff will not be playing a pop star, or any role for that matter, in the show. [Deadline]
Penny Gets a Schoolmate: Poor Penny. Looks like the whole aspiring actress thing is not going to work out for her. Looks like she’s going back to school—and making a new friend! Alphas‘ star Ryan Cartwright will guest star as Cole, a may present himself as a problem to Penny’s way-too-insecure boyfriend Leonard. Cartwright will make his appearance during the November 15 episode of CBS’ hit show, The Big Bang Theory. [The Hollywood Reporter]
Another Daily Show-to-Comedy-Series Transition?: Well, if Steve Carell can do it, what’s to stop Jason Jones, right? Carell is now getting behind the Daily Show cast member who’s new comedy pilot sold to FOX. Written by and starring Jones, the untitled comedy series tells the story of a bachelor-type Manhattan fellow with no desire for family, who is forced to take care of his sister’s two kids when she’s called back to active duty. Carell and Chris and Paul Weitz are executive producing. [Deadline]
Franklin & Bash Dismiss Garcelle Beauvais: Order in the court! Leading the witness! Objection! Your honor, that’s all the TV lawyer jargon I can think of off the top of my head. Unfortunately for one of the show’s stars, Garcelle Beauvais, aka senior partner Hanna Linden, any lawyer-y knowledge she gained from the show will have to stay just that, as she’s been (allegedly!) unceremoniously dumped from the show’s forthcoming season. Beauvais tweeted the news to her fans on Twitter today, saying “Just found out that I’m not being asked back on @franklinandbash #stunned.” Don’t feel too bad for her, though, since she’ll be appearing on Psych as a love interest for Charlie Young Dulé Hill.
