‘Dallas’ Renewed for Season 3 on TNT

Things are often bigger in Texas, and in that spirit, TNT has decided to renew Dallas for a third season. It seems the Ewing family will continue to profit not just on the oil fields, but on the television screens as well.

TNT’s successful reboot of the classic ’80s drama is actually more of a follow-up, continuing the track the Ewing family’s trials and dramatic tribulations in modern times. The new series premiered in 2011 to successful numbers and was quickly renewed for a Season 2. The 15-episode third season will go forward without the series’ most iconic character, J.R. Ewing, after Larry Hagman (the man who played J.R. in both series) passed away. The show is expected to launch its third season in early 2014.

Although we said goodbye to Larry Hagman and his iconic character J.R. Ewing this year, Dallas has many more stories left to tell, and the Ewing clan will continue to honor J.R.’s memory by keeping its audience surprised and delighted,”  Michael Wright, TNT’s head of programming, announced in a press release. “Dallas has built a passionately loyal following with its expertly woven storylines, clever twists and turns, and numerous outstanding performances by a cast that spans generations.”

Oil: it’s good for business (even TV business)!
