Maybe that ungrateful, son of a bitch Steve Carell will finally give credit where credit’s due. According to Vulture, Ricky Gervais recently shot a “top-secret cameo” for NBC’s top comedy The Office. The episode will air on January 27 (note: that’s NEXT WEEK, folks).
“It’s a little more than if you blink, you’ll miss it, but if you don’t set your TiVo right, you’ll miss it,” said show-runner Paul Lieberstein (who also plays the pathetic, yet lovable, Toby). For those who don’t know (and probably should be slapped for not knowing), Gervais originally created and starred as David Brent in The Office in the UK back in 2001, before the series was Michael Scott-ed and imported to America.
Anyway, Lieberstein says to set our “TiVo right,” eh? What’s that supposed to mean? Well, my guess is that the cameo will happen in either the cold open or the episode’s tag. And really, with everyone all pissed off at Gervais’ most recent job hosting the Golden Globes, let’s just hope that the cameo goes well, and God continues to support his atheism.
