Gigi Hadid also confused drag queen Jade Jolie with her best pal Taylor Swift at the Mtv Video Music Awards, the Rupaul’s Drag Race star has revealed.
Jolie hit headlines worldwide when John Travolta mistook her for the Bad Blood singer as he geared up to present the star with the Video of the Year gong for You Need to Calm Down. And, speaking after the awards ceremony, Jolie told NewNowNext that he wasn’t the only one who made the mistake.
Jolie recalled: “When we were walking in the back, where it’s mainly dancers and stuff, I got tired of saying, ‘No, I’m not her,’ so I just started hugging people! ‘So nice to meet you, too!’ And at the after-party Gigi Hadid kept thinking I was Taylor – they’re really good friends. The drunker we got, I guess the more Taylor I became for everyone!”
The blonde beauty was one of a large group of people who made it onto the stage because of their involvement in the You Need to Calm Down video. And while Taylor could have been irritated by Travolta’s embarrassing faux pas, she was actually highly amused.
“We told Taylor, and she was tickled and thought it was so funny. She joked and was like, ‘You totally should have went for it!'” Jolie laughed.
