A Haunting in Venice is based off of Agatha Christie’s work, Hallowe’en Party. The film focuses on Hercule Poirot, one of Christie’s most famous and longest running characters. The twirly mustached super sleuth is known for solving murders with keen perception, theatrical flair, and a bit of self importance, which is not unearned. Poirot has appeared multiple novels, plays and short stories. Not to mention the PBS series Poirot, that ran from 1989 to 2013.

What makes A Haunting in Venice exciting is that the team behind it is no stranger to murder mysteries and bringing Agatha Christie’s work to life. The film reunites the team of filmmakers behind Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and Death on the Nile (2022).
Kenneth Branagh is helming the production as director and working with a screenplay by Oscar nominee Michael Green. In addition, the acclaimed Hilder Guønadøttir was tapped to compose the score. Guønadøttir is most known for her work on Joker, Chernobyl, Tár and Women talking.
One of the most exciting aspects of the series is the impressive cast, including Michelle Yeoh. Fans adore her for her action-packed roles in films such as Everything Everywhere All At Once and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Her presence adds a significant level of gravitas to the film, and her performance is sure to be a highlight.
