First Look at Love Hurts: Ke Huy Quan Shines in Action Packed Debut Leading Role

No matter how much you try, your past always finds a way to catch up with you. Universal Pictures has just unveiled the trailer for Love Hurts. The new action film, featuring the Academy Award winner, Ke Huy Quan in his debut leading role. 
Ke Huy Quan’s Oscar-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once showcased his ability to portray multiple versions of his character. Now, he’ll apply those same skills in this debut leading role. Watch the full trailer below.

Love Hurts: What To Expect from Ke Huy Quan

Ke Huy Quan takes on the role of a charming realtor with a hidden past in the upcoming action film Love Hurts. Quan plays Marvin Gable, a real estate agent living in the Milwaukee suburbs. His world is turned upside down by a mysterious red envelope. This envelope is sent by Rose (Ariana DeBose), his former partner-in-crime whom he thought he had left behind for good.

Marvin finds himself pulled back into a perilous underworld of merciless hitmen, all under the control of his crime lord brother, Knuckles (Daniel Wu). This forces him to confront the shadows of his past. The film also features a talented cast, including former NFL star Marshawn Lynch, Mustafa Shakir, Rhys Darby, and Sean Astin. The film is directed by veteran stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio. He’s known for his work on John Wick and The Fall Guy, and this marks his debut as a feature film director.

The screenplay is penned by Matthew Murray, Josh Stoddard, and Luke Passmore. The film is produced by Kelly McCormick, David Leitch, and Guy Danella. Ben Ormand takes on the role of executive producer.

Love Hurts will exclusively premiere in theaters on Friday, February 7, 2025.
