Annie

Coming to the Lowell Memorial Auditorium on February 27, 2023 is the story of the little orphan with the fiery red hair, Annie. Annie tells the timeless and endearing story of Little Orphan Annie and her rags to riches life with Daddy Warbucks. Little Orphan Annie reminds us that now matter how hard life can be, the sun will always come out tomorrow. Annie is directed by Jenn Thompson, and features the iconic book and score, written by legendary Tony Award®-winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin. Be sure to come out to the Lowell Memorial Auditorium for a night of fun for the whole family.

Boulevard of Bold Dreams

Broadway takes on Tinseltown in this fictional retelling of the night Hattie McDaniel became the first African American to win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Gone With the Wind in 1940. Not wanting her to give up her chance to take her place in history, a bartender and maid with their own secrets try to convince her to attend the Academy Awards Ceremony. You can catch Boulevard of Bold Dreams when it makes its East Coast Premiere from March 3, 2023 to March 19, 2023.

Celebrity Series presents Dreamers’ Circus

If you are a fan of world music then you are going to truly love Dreamers’ Circus, a trio of musicians who bring to the masses a unique take on folk music from all over Scandinavia, including Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland. Much like any traditional band, the trio each play a series of instruments throughout the performance. The multi award winning trio is made up of Nikolaj Busk, who plays the piano and accordion, Ale Carr, who plays the Nordic cittern, and Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen, who plays the violin. This is a one night only performance, so be sure to get your tickets early.

Born as the hit game “Cluedo” in 1947, Clue has become a staple of many family game nights. Around the world. Over the years it has been made into a Hollywood movie starring Tim Curry, Eileen Brennan, Martin Mull, Lesley Ann Warren, and Christopher Lloyd. Now, based on the aforementioned hit 1985 movie, it has come to the stage as one of the greatest murder mysteries of all-time. You can try your best to catch the killer from June 2, 2023 to June 25, 2023.

The Great Leap

Loosely based on playwright Lauren Sharp’s father and his travels to China in the 1980s, The Great Leap follows high school student Manford Lum when he convinces cynical and crusty coach Saul to allow him to travel to Beijing, China to compete in a “Friendship” game. Unfortunately for Saul, a Chinese national coach with unfinished business, both him and Saul. The Great Leap is a one of a kind show that brings together basketball, politics, and history in ways that allows the audience to explore personal identity, cultural ties, and relations between China and the U.S.. You can head to the Lyric Theatre for the limited three week run of The Great Leap from February 24, 2023 to March 19, 2023.

HPT 174: Cosmic Relief!

As one of the oldest theatre companies in the world, Hasty Pudding Theatricals has been putting on comedy shows for nearly two centuries now. HPT 174: Cosmic Relief is a fully student-written show that follows Lauren Order, an FBI agent that is attempting to win the space race by faking a moon landing. What makes this show even funnier are the names of the people in the show, as when you think about them after you hear them they sound like actual people, or perhaps a TV show…! If you are in the Boston area, you don’t want to miss this incredibly hilarious show. The show runs from Feb 5, 2023 to Mar 5, 2023.

L. Shankar: Return to North America Tour

If you are a fan and lover of violin music then you will love the legendary Grammy Award winning artist Lakshminarayana Shankar. Born in 1950, Indian born L. Shankar has been performing since the age of 7 all throughout India, until he emigrated to America at the age of 18. Upon arriving in America, Shankar became a professor of classical music before he would go on to perform with the likes of Peter Gabriel, Frank Zappa, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Elton John. The one night only L. Shankar: Return to North America Tour is going to be a must see show. You can catch it on Mar 5, 2023.

Shadows Cast

Shadows Cast is a visual sensation from visionary aerialist/contortionist/director/performer Raphaëlle Boitel who began her career when she moved at a young age with her family to join the circus. Since then she has premiered her first show When Angels Fall right here in Boston in 2019. Now she is back with Shadows Cast, a new show that dives deep into the human psyche. Unlike movies, stage shows can oftentimes be more engaging and immersive, and with inspirations like David Lynch and Alfred Hitchcock, Shadows Cast is sure to be one incredible ride.
