So Aaron Sorkin is set to play himself on 30 Rock. This is excellent. 30 Rock doesn’t shy away from making fun of its former competitor and hopefully it will not shy away from it during this future episode. After all, Sorkin created Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (not a bad show all together, but compared to 30 Rock? Nah) and before that he mastered the ‘walk and talk’ on the West Wing. Of course, they’ll also probably mention his latest masterpiece The Social Network.
Now, my only concern with this is how it will effect the continuity of 30 Rock. Since they have referenced Studio 60 many times (often saying the show on 30 Rock, TGS, is the same show they were working on in Studio 60) how are they going to justify that with the actual creator of Studio 60 playing himself on the show? And Sorkin obviously knows who Tina Fey is since they both had shows about the same thing on at the same time. Will he realize he is on a show? Will he pretend like Studio 60 never happened? Or will he pretend TGS is the inspiration for Studio 60 instead of SNL? Or am I thinking about this waaaaay too much? Nah, probably not enough actually. So if Sorkin is “real” in the 30 Rock world, that would mean there is another 30 Rock being produced in the 30 Rock world (a former writer for TGS makes her own show about the shenanigans that happend) that has Aaron Sorkin making a cameo on it but that would mean there is ANOTHER 30 Rock and that means there is another 30 Rock and now my head hurts. Thought about this too much.
