Lesson learned, America: You do not want to watch too many hilarious things on Tuesday nights. One day after ABC pulled Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23 from its comedy block, effectively canceling the sophomore sitcom, Fox has done the same with its underperforming Ben and Kate.
It’s ok, we’ll pause for your outraged “nooooo!”
The freshman comedy is off the network’s Tuesday night schedule effective immediately, and now resides in that not-officially-canceled-but-probably-won’t-be-seen-again purgatory that too many quality shows find themselves in nowadays. Hollywood.com has confirmed that there are no current plans as to when we’ll be able to see the unaired episodes.
Instead, back-to-back new episodes of Raising Hope will air in the 8 p.m. hour until March, when Hell’s Kitchen will take the time slot. New Girl and The Mindy Project are staying put (for now).
Ben and Kate stars Dakota Johnson as a single mother whose life gets a whole lot more exciting when her hijink-prone brother (Nat Faxon) moves in to help raise her daughter.
UPDATE: It’s official: Ben and Kate is a goner. Fox halted production of the show on Friday, Jan. 25 with two episodes left to shoot of the sitcom’s 18-episode order. Letter-writing campaigns, commence!
