Remember X Factor judge Cheryl Cole? No? Well, that’s probably because she never actually appeared on the show — getting replaced by Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger before the show made its debut in the U.S.
However, that didn’t stop the British pop star from getting paid $1.8 million for season one of the American version. Thanks to the pay or play clause in the Girls Aloud singer’s contract she signed with Simon Cowell, she was still entitled to the money. And now she is filing a Breach of Contract suit, suing Blue Orbit Productions for money owed for season two, reports Deadline. Cole is seeking the $2 million she would have earned as a judge, plus additional expenses for wardrobe, stylist and living expenses.
Only in Hollywood can you get paid for work you didn’t actually do.
