Revenge is ABC’s latest offering for melodrama addicts and critics alike. None of us can get enough of Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and her insatiable desire for revenge, and last night’s epic promo during the Oscars did little to calm our excitement. We can now replay the salacious scenes, narrated by VanCamp and teasing the incredibly twists and turns to come.
But the promo does double work; it not only riles up die-hard fans, but it sets the scene for those TV audiences who’ve yet to dip their toes into the Hamptons-set drama. The scene: Emily is out for revenge. Check. She’s got a foe: Victoria Grayson. Check. A friend with a rocky relationship: Jack Porter. Check. A fiance with guilt on his face and blood on his hands: Daniel Grayson. Giant check. And whole mess of other complications.
The promo delivers no real spoilers other than that the drama can only go up from here, but that’s enough for us. Revenge is so much sweeter when it’s a complete shock.
