The patriarch and gentle leader of the Gilmore clan, Richard Gilmore, was a beloved character in the hit series. With so many opinionated women and so few stable men, Richard was always a source of reason and spout of knowledge on the show. Sadly, Edward Herrmann, the actor that played Richard, past away on December 31, 2014 after battling brain cancer. He was a fantastic actor (also in The Lost Boys, The Good Wife and more) and will be missed by many including his co-stars on the seven season show that have tweeted or spoke out about his personhood.
