Hong Kong host of “Link” gets nicer; rating pick up

Ratings for the Hong Kong version of The Weakest Link have overtaken those of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire following host Dodo Cheng Ye-ling’s decision to become more friendly with contestants. Cheng told the South China Morning Post: “Initially we had to follow everything from the BBC [which originated the show and maintains control of it in international syndication.] That was very hard for me because I am not Anne Robinson, but I had to pretend to be her.” Since altering her demeanor, the newspaper said, Link has become Hong Kong’s top show, averaging 1.35 million viewers vs. 1.29 million for Millionaire.
