Well, Idoloonies, you’ll have to endure another year of sideways comparisons between American Idol and The X Factor, because even without Simon Cowell’s projected 20 million viewers, Fox decided to give the reality competition a second go. Perhaps now that the competition has reached the normal, less melodramatic part we can all get on board and see why the network just staked its interests in the series.
Here’s what Cowell had to say about the renewal:
I am absolutely thrilled with the news…I have loved making the show and I want to thank Fox, our sponsors and most importantly the fans for supporting The X Factor.
The top 12 contestants take the stage tonight, Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox, for the first round of performances before the first audience-chosen elimination. One unlucky contestant will pack his or her bags, but Cowell and crew are here to stay.
