The perpetually struggling NBC Network doubled down on its budget-busting comeback strategy today, giving the greenlight to a whopping eight new comedy pilots, Deadline.com reports. Notable new projects include: Downwardly Mobile, starring Roseanne Barr as “as the proprietor of a mobile home park and surrogate mother to all of the unique people who live there”; Friday Night Dinner, Greg Daniels’ (The Office) latest BBC import; an untitled Jimmy Fallon-produced show about “three 30-something guys enjoy the adventures of parenting despite the fact they haven’t grown up themselves”; and my personal favorite, Next Caller Please, dubbed “a gender comedy focusing on a brash alpha male DJ and his new, plucky, feminist co-host set in the offices of a satellite radio station.” One’s mind reels at the comedic fireworks such a scenario might yield. I can only Dane Cook is available to star.
