The halls of McKinley High could soon be filled with music again. A Glee reboot has officially been confirmed, bringing the beloved musical comedy back into the spotlight more than a decade after its original series finale.
The show’s official Instagram account announced the news on October 21, revealing that the revival is in the works at Disney+ and Hulu. While details remain limited, fans already have plenty of reasons to be excited about the potential return.
Who Is Working on the Glee Reboot?
Series creator Ryan Murphy is teaming up with original co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan for the project. The trio, who helped shape the show’s early seasons, have reportedly completed a script for the revival.
Murphy previously revealed in September that he had finished writing the screenplay and had reached out to approximately 10 members of the original cast. According to the creator, those conversations were encouraging, although the actors had not yet read the script at the time.
No official casting announcements have been made, leaving fans wondering which familiar faces might return.
Will the Original Glee Cast Return?
The original series featured stars including Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Jane Lynch, Darren Criss, Dianna Agron, Kevin McHale and Matthew Morrison.
Several cast members have expressed interest in revisiting their characters. Michele, who played Rachel Berry, recently said she would follow Murphy into the project, while Lynch has previously shared her enthusiasm for reprising Sue Sylvester.
Colfer, who portrayed Kurt Hummel, has also recently suggested he could be open to the idea, despite previously ruling out a revival. McHale has raised questions about returning as Artie, noting his concerns about portraying a wheelchair user.
When Will the Glee Reboot Premiere?
A release date, episode count and plot details have yet to be announced. It is also unclear whether the revival will reunite familiar characters or introduce a new generation of performers.
For now, fans will have to wait for further updates as the Glee reboot moves forward.
