The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has notified members planning to attend Sunday’s Emmy ceremonies at the Shrine Auditorium that, because of “greatly stepped up” security plans, they should arrive at least one hour earlier than they normally would.
The ATAS, in a letter signed by chairman Bryce Zabel and president Jim Chabin, called the security arrangements for this year’s affair “unprecedented” and said that they had been coordinated not only with Los Angeles police, but also with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Aviation Administration. As part of the arrangements, bleacher seats have been eliminated in front of the Shrine and the usual red-carpet arrival area has been “modified.”
