New Oscar Twist!

The case of the stolen Oscars took a twist late this afternoon, when prosecutors declined to press charges against one of the men arrested in connection with the heist. Oscar The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office decided there was not sufficient evidence to pursue a case against Roadway Express employee Anthony Hart, 38, spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons tells Hollywood.com.

It’s presumed Hart will be freed.

Still in custody, pending the posting of bail, is Lawrence Ledent. The truck driver, also a 38-year-old Roadway Express worker, pleaded innocent today to one count of grand theft. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 31.

Hart and Ledent were arrested Saturday. In a press conference Monday, police said the pair hatched an inside job to abscond with 55 Oscars after the trophies were shipped to an L.A.-area Roadway Express dock from Chicago.

The awards were reported missing March 10. A 61-year-old Los Angeles man found 52 of them near a Dumpster on Sunday night.
