You thought last week’s results were shocking? On Thursday night, American Idol had its first true shocking elimination: Colton Dixon, the radio-ready alternative rocker, was sent packing. That’s right — Colton was sent home, before Hollie, who continues to hang on by a tween-grasping thread.
So what gives? I’ll discuss the moment more in my recap tomorrow (and the curious omission of a double elimination post-Judges’ Save), but, in the meantime, respect Colton for his smart parting words about the judges’ criticism Wednesday: “I’ll take that when I’m making a record.”
