‘Drop Dead Diva’ Season 5 is a Go After Lifetime Un-Cancels The Show

Drop Dead Diva renewed for Season 5 after being canceled by Lifetime

Drop Dead Divais coming back to life: Hollywood.com has confirmed that the Lifetime drama, which was canceled in January after four seasons on the air, is now officially headed back to the network for a Season 5. The dramedy, funnily enough, follows an aspiring model who dies in a car crash but, after a mix-up in heaven, comes back to life in the body of plus-size lawyer Jane Bingham (Brooke Elliot). Luckily, the lawyer smarts come with the body.

The decision to axe the show was purely a monetary one, according to reports at the time. But contract talks continued, and Lifetime confirms that it was able to negotiate a deal with Sony Pictures TV that will see the show return in 2013.

Deadline originally reported the news of DDD‘s resurrection, saying that both sides agreed to cost-cutting measures that will make Season 5 financially feasible.
