While most Bachelor and Bachelorette fans are still seething over Ben’s choice of fiancee during March 12’s Final Rose ceremony, there is some good news regarding the franchise: May 14 will mark the first episode of former Bachelor winner Emily Maynard’s season of The Bachelorette.
As previously reported, Maynard broke off her engagement with Bachelor beau Brad Womack after his lifestyle clashed with hers and her daughter’s needs. Since then, ABC snatched the opportunity to allow Maynard the chance to find televised love with a man who’s ready to be a part of little Ricki’s life, and according the scenes revealed during the Bachelor’s After The Final Rose special, Ricki will come along for the ride and meet her mama’s potential suitors.
Maynard, whose fiance Ricky Hendrick was killed in a plane crash in October 2004, will be the first single mother to star as ABC’s Bachelorette. And to accommodate her, the production moved to her home turf in Charlotte, N.C. Hopefully, for Maynard and Ricki, the second time is the charm.
