‘Episodes’ Recap: Episode Two

‘Of England? Ehhh.’

S01E02 Can we pretend like the pilot episode of Episodes never happened? Sure, this second episode wasn’t perfect (far from it) but it was nevertheless better than the pilot and more exemplary of the show. Let’s just treat this one as the real pilot, shall we? That’ll just explain this episode’s weaknesses while still holding you over till next episode when things get going better.

This episode introduces Matt LeBlanc as Matt LeBlanc and as expected, it’s a ballooned version of Matt LeBlanc that almost veers into Joey territory. He makes up for his absence in the first episode by being all over this one. At first he’s stuck up, arrogant, and unsure why he’s meeting with Sean and Beverly in the first place. But like apparently everyone in Hollywood, once he’s offered enough money he takes the role with a grin. He gradually starts sliding into the role of moron but at least he starts off with the right step.

And that’s when things get interesting. Once he watches Sean and Beverly’s show he really likes it, but he’s smart enough to realize that he doesn’t fit into the show and he talks to them about changing it. Now Sean and Beverly don’t want to do it, of course, but Matt charms them enough to where they come over to his side. Eventually he changes it around enough to where it’s nothing like the original, much to the dismay of Beverly.

‘Don’t let them force you to cast anyone you don’t like.’

‘That may not be the tone you want to be asking me that question with’

So if you liked this episode better than the first, then I would stick around for the rest of them. It only gets better from here building on everything that starts here. But if you weren’t sure from these two episodes, then this just might not be the show for you. And finally, here is something for you to use to greet your building’s doorman or neighborhood’s security guard:

‘Oh no, no no. Not tonight Wallace. Don’t pull that shit with us, now open the mother fucking, bloody bastard, pain in the ass, dick cheese stinking, dirty, shitty, wanking, fucking bloody, fucking bastard, fucking stupid, cunt of a fucking gate.’
