Indian “Millionaire” finishes first week on U.K. TV

Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a
Millionaire
and arguably the biggest hit in the history of Indian
television, today ends its first week as a daily feature on
Britain’s STAR-TV channel aimed at the country’s two million Asians.

Ruth
Settle of Celador, which oversees the various international productions
of Millionaire, told today’s Times of India that she was
delighted that the program, fronted by Amitabh Bachchan, one of India’s
biggest film stars, will now be available to Asians living in Britain.

The newspaper observed that KBC this week added British Indian
contestants from London, Birmingham and “faraway Preston.”
