Katie Couric to Co-Host ‘The View’ in August

ABC has rolled out a cushy welcoming plan for Katie Couric as she embarks on a daytime-TV journey at the network — and it’ll start with a co-hosting spot on The View.

The former CBS Evening News host will join Barbara, Whoopi, Joy, Elisabeth and Sherri starting Aug. 3 — during the talk show’s season-finale week and almost immediately after the commencement of her deal with ABC.

As previously announced, Couric won’t become a fixture on the network, however, until September 2012, when her syndicated daytime talk show is set to debut. She will also pitch in on various ABC news shows.
