‘Memphis Beat’ Sticks Around For Second Season

Jason LeeTNT has ordered up 10 episodes for the second season of Memphis Beat. Yay? I guess? Maybe? I’ve never heard much about this show beyond the fact that it was premiering and it has Jason Lee in it. It looks like some people watched it. Good for TNT.

Let’s see if The Wrap can catch me up, “…starring Lee alongside Alfre Woodard and DJ Qualls, Memphis Beat premiered in June and averaged 4.7 million viewers over its summer run, finishing first in its core demo of adults 25-54 for its Tuesday-evening slot.” What? Were my summer Tuesdays that busy that I missed a show with DJ Qualls? The New Guy was my favorite movie for a week in 2002.

Apparently Lee plays a cop who moonlights as a Elvis impersonator in Memphis, I guess? I would look it up but that tab button is so far away. And why does Lee have to be a cop? Can he not just be an Elvis impersonator who gets in trouble? What’s so special about a cop shaking his hips? Lee’s one of the few actors that I generally like too. I want to hang out with the guy. Or maybe I’m just extremely jealous of his mustache growing capabilities. Oh well, there are only so many hours in the day and only so many quality shows I can fit into those.
