UPDATE: Prison changes many people. But Dr. House is such an unwavering force that not even incarceration could put a dent in his demeanor. This clip offers a look at the new season of House. While doing time, the doc “just happens” into the infirmary, and predicts the prison doctor’s misdiagnosis of one of the other inmates. House knows that his place is to stay quiet and out of the way, but old habits die hard.
It seems as though House will be finding his place doing his old shtick, even in prison. As a hospital procedural, it makes sense that they’d install him back into the position of solving medical mysteries. But personally, I was hoping they’d invest some screen time into his budding friendships with his new cell mate, Jaleel White. Oh well.
EARLIER: You may have heard that House will be be changing up its setting a bit for the upcoming eighth season. The doc (Hugh Laurie) will be serving a prison sentence resulting from his less-than-rational actions in the Season 7 finale (he drove a car into his ex-lover’s house). Below, we can see the traditional tally marks on the cell wall (although it doesn’t seem like Dr. House has a complete grasp on how they work).
In any event, this new season, as you can see in the trailer, seems to mix the series’ old biting charm with some new higher stakes for our hero (particularly, the avoidance of switchblades). The new series will also feature some surprising new guest stars.
House returns to Fox Monday, October 3 at 9/8c.
