Former Playboy playmate Anna Nicole Smith has suffered a major legal defeat: her $475 million victory in the battle over her late husband’s estate was overturned Thursday by a Los Angeles federal judge, according to The Associated Press. U.S. District Judge David Carter ruled that Smith‘s previous victory–awarded to her last year by a bankruptcy judge–was improperly handled, Reuters reports, and ruled that a new trial, complete with more thorough witness testimony, would be scheduled. Pierce Marshall, the son of Smith‘s late husband, oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall, has been in a bitter dispute over the estate, claiming that she also duped his father out of $7 million in gifts while the elder Marshall was still alive.
