Blanchett expecting

Australian-born Cate Blanchett, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Queen Elizabeth I in Elizabeth, is expecting her first child late this year. Blanchett and her husband, screenwriter Andrew Upton, confirmed the news in a statement Friday, but declined to give further details, Reuters reports. She recently completed Charlotte Gray in England and France and Bandits, costarring Bruce Willis, in the United States. She is filming The Shipping News in Newfoundland, Canada, with Kevin Spacey. Upton has been busy writing the screenplay for Foucault’s Pendulum, based on the novel by Umberto Eco, for Fine Line Features.
