David Duchovny takes his punctuation seriously. He claims that an improperly placed comma made him miss a question on a celebrity edition of ABC’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. On the show, Duchovny, who once pursued a doctorate in literature at Yale before taking up acting, was asked to identify the film that ends with the line “Good luck among them, English,” Duchovny answered Braveheart but the correct answer was Witness.
He registered his complaint with the host of CBS’ The Late, Late Show, Craig Kilborn, saying, “So I went home and I was like, ‘There’s no comma, there was no comma.’ And I was like, how much of an egghead, sour grapes idiot do you want to seem by actually complaining about this,” he told Kilborn. But Duchovny believes he has been silent long enough, “…without a comma, I think I need a recount.” Kilborn’s interview with Duchovny will air Monday.
