The Fox network denies reports that actor Robert Downey Jr. was fired from Ally McBeal in the wake of his Tuesday arrest. Instead, a Fox spokesman told Reuters that Downey will simply not appear in any future episodes of the show this season, as the actor is being ordered to stay in an inpatient drug rehab facility for the next six months. A six-month stay in the facility–which would last until October–would likely keep Downey off the show for much of the fall season, as autumn episodes would begin shooting in midsummer.
