Besides being one of the most influential guitarists of all time, the late Jimi Hendrix might also be the only guy to release more records after his death than when he was alive. Loads of reissues and box sets have been released over the years, and on the 30th anniversary of his passing, his family will drop another four CD set Tuesday containing 56 rare tracks of the virtuoso’s vaulted material.
“The Jimi Hendrix Experience” will be released to give fans “a window into a genius’ life,” said Hendrix’s stepsister, Jane Hendrix, who co-produced the project with producer Eddie Kramer. Kramer engineered many of Hendrix’s albums.
The set includes an outtake of “Purple Haze” and a never-released studio jam called “Slow Blues,” recorded one month before his death in 1969. Most of the material on the disc set was recovered from several sources and includes mostly jam sessions of variations of songs Hendrix recorded with his band.
