Kidman admirer refutes stalking allegations

Matthew Hooker, the 40-year-old man accused of stalking actress Nicole Kidman, told a Santa Monica, Calif., court judge that he has never stalked anyone in his life, including the actress, according to Reuters. Kidman, whose 10-year marriage to actor Tom Cruise ended earlier this year, filed a restraining order against Hooker, claiming the Los Angeles-area resident contacted her by phone and got into a scuffle with security men outside her home last month. Hooker reportedly admitted to writing her a love poem and going by her house to invite her to the ballet, but he vehemently denied stalking Kidman. She claims his actions have made her fear for the safety and wellbeing of her and her children. Hooker, who runs several Internet sites, posted a poem titled Nicole on his Web site www.artistsinmotion. Kidman is hoping to turn the temporary restraining order against Hooker into a preliminary injunction, but her lawyers have asked for more time to obtain a sworn statement from the actress, who is presently touring Australia to promote her new film, Moulin Rouge.
