Rapper Knocks Out Rapper

LL Cool J has scored his first No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart, knocking out Nelly, who reigned for six consecutive weeks with “Country Grammar.’ “G.O.A.T.,” the rapper’s follow-up to 1997’s “Phenomenon,” sold 208,000 copies for the week ended Sept. 17.

Nelly dropped to No. 2, Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady” fell one notch to No. 3, Boyz II Men’s “Nathan Michael Shawn Wanya” bowed in at No. 4 and the Barenaked Ladies’ “Stunt, Maroon” debut at No. 5, bringing the total to three for the number of debuts in this week’s Top Five.

Meanwhile, over on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, Madonna’s “Music” held the top spot for the third consecutive week. “Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)” by 98 Degrees leapfrogged from No. 19 to No. 2 and could give the Queen of Music a run for the top spot next week.

Madonna’s CD “Music” was released worldwide on Tuesday and is likely to debut atop the albums chart next week.
