Ripley’s honors Monroe

Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in Hollywood is opening its collection of Marilyn Monroe collectibles this week, including items such as false eyelashes, scarves and a pair of stockings worn on her honeymoon to baseball legend Joe DiMaggio. The BBC reports that the museum spent approximately $1.3 million at a Christie’s auction in 1999 for the bulk of the memorabilia. Visitors also can see shoes, lingerie, sweaters, and one of Monroe‘s infamous white halter dresses. Monroe, born Norma Jean Baker, would have been 75 years old on June 1. She died of a drug overdose in 1962.
