Miramax has picked up the rights to the spec script Infidel, with Antonio Banderas attached to star. The producers are banking on building a franchise with a strong Latino hero. The story centers on Bobby De Leon, a hard-edged anti-Castro Cuban-American CIA analyst who is sent to Cuba to protect the dictator from an assassination attempt. Not one to back away from his job, he soon finds out the true nature of his mission, one that would require him to sacrifice all that he holds dear. De Leon must decide to either do his job, let the assassin do his, or pull the trigger himself.
