Home is where the money is, and Tim Allen is going back home. Daily Variety is reporting that Allen and Disney studios have a sequel to 1994’s “The Santa Clause” in the works. That was the family comedy where Allen played a burned-out ad executive who reluctantly assumed St. Nick’s present-distribution duties.
And, oh yeah, it made $144 million.
KISS AND SELL: This sounds kinda interesting. Gene Simmons of KISS, who produced the ill-fated “Detroit Rock City” movie, is developing a new flick called “Jon Sable, Freelance,” according to Variety. Based upon a 1980s comic book about an African big-game hunter who writes children’s books in his spare time, the property was made into a short-live TV series in the late 1980s, with Rene Russo playing the hero’s girlfriend.
PRISON BRATT: Benjamin Bratt, he of ex-“Law and Order” fame, will play the late poet and playwright Miguel Pinero in a new movie, simply titled “Pinero,” according to Variety. Pinero wrote about prison life, and his play “Short Eyes” received a Tony nomination and was made into a movie.
