Sting’s plane skids off Florence runway

A small plane carrying British rock star Sting, two pilots and friends skidded off the runway while trying to land Monday at the Florence airport in Italy. No one was hurt. A Florence airport official told Reuters that the plane “ended off the runway but Sting was not hurt.” The plane came to halt 30 yards at the end of the runway in a grass field after smashing though a fence, Italian news agency ANSA reported. Flights leaving the airport were delayed by 45 minutes so that the fire brigade could remove the plane. After the incident, Sting headed for his villa in the village of Figline Valdarno outside of Florence.
