In Time magazine’s current issue, R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe reveals–after years of public speculation–he is indeed homosexual. Stipe, 41, tells Time: “I was being made to be a coward about it, rather than someone who felt like it was really a very private thing.” He says he’s been in a serious relationship with “an amazing man” for the past three years, but refuses to divulge his companion’s identity. R.E.M.’s new album, Reveal, hit stores Tuesday.
