Travolta reportedly exits movie on pay demand

Commenting that John Travolta “seems to be the only person who hasn’t noticed his recent career slump,” the British movie site Popcorn reported Thursday that Travolta may have priced himself out of a sequel to his 1995 film, Get Shorty in which he would again have reprised his role of Chili Palmer. The Carlton Communications-operated Web site quoted Elmore Leonard, the author of Get Shorty and the sequel, Be Cool, as saying that Travolta wanted $20 million to $25 million to portray the character again and that MGM was unlikely to agree to that amount. Leonard himself, according to Popcorn, is pushing for Benicio Del Toro to take over the role.
