Will Smith teams up with Sony

Will Smith is on top of his game these days.

The actor’s production company, Overbrook Entertainment, has recently signed a three-year, first-look deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment, which released Smith‘s current film Ali and will be releasing the summer sequel Men in Black 2.

Along with producing partner James Lassiter, Smith will be looking for projects that he will star in and/or produce for the studio.

In a joint statement, Smith and Lassiter said, “Home is a place where you feel completely comfortable, and you get unconditional support, and [Sony-owned] Columbia Pictures has been that place to us for many years.”

Columbia Pictures president Amy Pascal responded, “We don’t want to just make films starring Will Smith. We want to be in the Will Smith business and with this deal, we are committing to an artist and a producer who share our commercial and creative taste.”

Overbrook Entertainment previously had a deal with Universal Pictures.
