Responding to stern criticism by NAACP chief Kweisi Mfume, ABC and the
Screen Actors Guild have launched the ABC Talent Development Casting
Project.
Under the program, minority actors will be encouraged to
participate in showcases that will be open to other networks and casting
agents, the Los Angeles Times reported today.
The
newspaper said that the first showcase, a reading involving the
Asian-American theatrical company East West Players, took place
Wednesday night.
