Agatha Christie Ltd. has placed “an immediate moratorium” on any further productions of the mystery writer’s plays (except for two that it does not own) while it considers revising them to make them more contemporary. As reported by the London Sunday Times, the decision was prompted by the Christie company’s delight with a recent CBS production of Murder on the Orient Express set in modern times. Matthew Prichard, Agatha Christie’s grandson, who owns a controlling stake in the company, told the newspaper, “I think my grandmother would be in favor of a re-look at her plays and adaptations.” He said that the company is also looking to modernize the Christie plays for television and film productions as well.
