The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) plans to hold its movie awards next year prior to the Oscars as it did — for the first time — this year, the organization announced Tuesday. BAFTA Chairman Simon Relph told Screen International, the online edition of the trade paper Screen Daily: “We did it on an experimental basis last year, but it was so successful that it would be quite perverse to go back.” Until this year, the organization had staged its awards show following the Oscars, but critics had called the late airing anticlimactic.
