Blockbuster offers settlement

Blockbuster Inc. has offered a settlement in the 23 class-action lawsuits that claim customers of the video rental chain paid exorbitant fees on overdue films, allowing the company to unfairly profit, according to the Associated Press. The settlement, if allowed by the federal court, will cover all overdue or non-return fees for rentals from January 1, 1992, to April 1, 2001. The settlement offer consists of free video rentals and $1 off non-food items, and is believed to be worth $450 million.
