Universal announced it will push back the release date for The Bourne Legacy by one week. The Jeremy Renner star vehicle, picking up after the previous Matt Damon films, was set to hit theaters on August 3 but will now be unleashed in the U.S. on August 10.

What gives?

The studio said in a statement: “Just as The Avengers demonstrated marketplace sustainability that well outpaced traditional patterns earlier this summer, the industry expects a similar trajectory for The Dark Knight Rises,” the studio said in a statement. “Moving one week further from its release will give The Bourne Legacy an even greater opportunity to maximize its opening box-office potential.”
