“Bridget”‘s closing in

Bridget Jones’s Diary continued its push to become the most successful British film in history at the U.K. box office. The film, starring Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth, topped the box office with $2 million last weekend, to bring its total gross in Britain to $44.4 million in five weeks. It should surpass last year’s Notting Hill, which earned $46.7 million at the U.K. box office, before the end of the month. The U.K.’s most successful film ever was The Full Monty, which earned $78.6 million.
