She says that she’s leaving television for good. Really.
No, I’m not referring to Kathie Lee Gifford, so don’t get too excited.
Daytime talk show host Rosie O’Donnell, appearing on “Today” to promote her new editorial role with McCall’s magazine, confirmed that she would end “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” when the contract expires in spring 2002.
O’Donnell told NBC’s Katie Couric on Friday that she was “leaning toward” not continuing.
“Why don’t you just say, ‘I’m not going to do it?'” Couric asked. “Then you’d really make news this morning.”
O’Donnell replied: “All right, I’m not going to do it.”
A spokesman for Warner Brothers Television said that the company never talks about contract negotiations “but we’re hopeful that Rosie will return,” The Associated Press reported.
A “Rosie O’Donnell Show” spokeswoman said that nothing has been decided.
