Cannes juror’s t-shirt raises eyebrows

Director Terry Gilliam told a Cannes news conference Wednesday that, despite being a member of the film festival’s jury, he always feels uncomfortable judging the work of other filmmakers. “So I tried to solve the problem of dealing with the situation by choosing my T-shirt.” Gilliam, who created the visuals for the Monty Python TV series and movies, then rose to display the T-shirt, which bore the inscription “Can Be Bribed.” As reporters laughed, Gilliam remarked, “I think that will knock through all the confusion and angst one suffers when trying to choose the best. I am going to choose the one whose producer pays me the most money.”
