The 12th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival kicked off its run with its awards gala honoring the big boys in Hollywood on Saturday, Daily Variety reports.
The lifetime achievement award was given to Sean Connery. Nicolas Cage received an achievement award, and “Gladiator” helmer Ridley Scott got the director’s achievement prize.
Other winners included “Titus” cinematographer Luciano Tovoli and Randy Newman, who received a music honor.

The Palm Springs Film Festival ends Jan. 22.
