Tom Cruise has had enough with the rumors about his sexuality.
Cruise filed a lawsuit Wednesday against a gay porn star who claimed in a magazine interview that he had a love affair with the Mission: Impossible star, Reuters reports. The lawsuit said that Chad Slater, who also goes by the name Kyle Bradford, claimed in the interview that the alleged affair wrecked Cruise‘s marriage to actress Nicole Kidman, Reuters said.
In a $100 million defamation lawsuit, Cruise said that Slater told his “vicious, self-promoting story” to the French magazine Actustar, which later appeared translated in the Spanish publication TV y Novelas.
Slater, who is described on his Web site as an “erotic wrestler,” told Acutstar that he had “a continuing homosexual relationship during Cruise‘s marriage and that the relationship was discovered by Cruise‘s wife, who ended the relationship,” the lawsuit said, according to The Associated Press.
By Wednesday afternoon, Slater’s Web site, kylebradford.com, was shut “due to uncontrollable circumstances.”
On Thursday, Slater denied giving the interview.
“I have never been to France, I have never spoken with Actustar Magazine, and have never said any of the statements allegedly said by me,” Slater said on his Web site. “The things being reported internationally are totally untrue and very hurtful to all parties.”
According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, Cruise has never met the porn star.
“While Cruise thoroughly respects others’ rights to follow their own sexual preference, he is not a homosexual and had no relationship of any kind with Kyle Bradford and does not even know him,” the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles said.
This is not the first time that Cruise has faced rumors printed in tabloids. Cruise and Kidman, now going through divorce proceedings, successfully sued the British tabloid the Daily Express after it reported that their marriage was a “sham.” The couple donated the awarded money to charity.
In November 1999, Cruise and Kidman settled a lawsuit against the Star tabloid, after it published stories that the couple had to be by two sex therapists for their love making scenes in Eyes Wide Shut. The tabloid donated an unspecified amount of money to a charity of the couple’s choosing and also ran a retraction of the story.
According to AP, Cruise‘s attorney, Bert Fields, said Actustar has agreed to publish a retraction.
Fields could not be reached for comment Thursday.
The Web sites for Actustar and TV y Novelas have retracted all Cruise-related comments.
